Apple's Neuromancer series finally has a teaser — and a January 2027 premiere date

Apple TV+ has dropped the first teaser for its Neuromancer adaptation, confirming a January 22, 2027 premiere for the 10-episode series. William Gibson's 1984 novel — which won the Hugo, Nebula, and Philip K. Dick awards and effectively defined the cyberpunk genre — spent decades being passed around Hollywood with no one willing to film it. Apple is now betting it can crack the story that stumped everyone else.

The story

Callum Turner plays Case, a washed-up hacker who can no longer jack into the global computer network after a former employer burned out that ability as punishment. A mysterious new client offers to restore it — in exchange for one very dangerous job. The world Case inhabits has no room for weakness or sentiment; money and criminal connections are the only currencies that matter. Graham Roland serves as showrunner, with JD Dillard directing the pilot, per Variety.

The supporting cast is stacked: Mark Strong, Peter Sarsgaard, Clémence Poésy, Briana Middleton (as assassin Molly), Joseph Lee, Dane DeHaan, Max Irons, and Marc Menchaca all appear. The teaser confirmed the show's visual fidelity to Gibson's source material — the grimy Chatsubo bar from the novel shows up intact.

A crowded cyberpunk year

Apple is not launching into a quiet market. Screen Rant has called 2026–2027 the "year of cyberpunk TV," with Ghost in the Shell on Prime Video and Blade Runner 2099 also competing for attention. Neuromancer's advantage is pedigree: Gibson's novel is the source text that directly influenced The Matrix, Altered Carbon, and Mr. Robot — shows the Apple production cites as reference points. Whether the series can honor that legacy while making Gibson's notoriously dense narrative work for a general audience is the real test.

The first two episodes land simultaneously on January 22, 2027 — Apple's standard bet-on-word-of-mouth strategy. Weekly Friday releases follow through March 19, 2027.
