Portronics Tornado Plus: a cordless air duster that spins at 130,000 RPM

Disposable compressed-air cans are wasteful, leak moisture, and run out at the worst possible moment. Portronics has launched the Tornado Plus, a cordless electric air duster powered by a 160W brushless motor that spins up to 130,000 RPM — comparable to motors found in professional hair dryers, but pointed squarely at your dusty keyboard.

The hardware

The Tornado Plus weighs 289g and fits a pistol-grip form factor. Three speed presets let you dial in the right amount of force: 25,000 RPM for delicate jobs like camera lenses or motherboards, 60,000 RPM for everyday desk cleaning, and the full 130,000 RPM for clearing out PC cases, car vents, or anywhere dust has had years to settle. The package includes interchangeable nozzle attachments to focus airflow into tight gaps.

Power comes from dual 3,000 mAh batteries charged via USB-C. A full charge takes around three hours. Runtime depends on the mode you choose — up to 30 minutes on low, 25 minutes on medium, and 10 minutes flat-out at maximum speed. The device also includes overheat protection and an auto-shutoff after three minutes of inactivity.

The economics

The Tornado Plus launched in India at ₹2,999 (roughly $31 / £24 at current rates), with a listed MRP of ₹3,999. At that price point, it undercuts most Western equivalents — electric dusters from established brands like Dust-Off typically run £40–70 in the UK and similar in the US. Availability caveat

There's a catch. The Tornado Plus is currently sold only in India through Portronics.com, Amazon.in, and Flipkart. Portronics has no confirmed US or UK distribution, and no global rollout has been announced. If a Western launch does happen, the price point could make it one of the more competitive options in the category — but for now, import is the only route.
