Casio's new G-SHOCK Gravitymaster fixes its own hands after a hard knock
Casio has launched the G-SHOCK Gravitymaster GWR-B3000, a three-model aviation watch lineup built around a new movement that detects hard impacts and corrects the hands automatically — so a dropped watch doesn't quietly start showing the wrong time. US pricing runs from $880 to $1,100, with UK pre-orders already open at £750 to £870 via the Casio UK store. This is the first G-SHOCK to combine shock detection, magnetic field protection, and solar power in a single metal-and-carbon case.
The movement
The core upgrade is TOUGH MVT 2, Casio's second-generation analog movement. When the watch detects a strong impact, it checks whether the hands have shifted and snaps them back to the correct position. It also senses powerful magnetic fields — an aviation reality near cockpit instruments — briefly pausing the hands and re-syncing them once the field clears. Previous G-SHOCKs could survive a drop; this one knows if it was affected by one.
The build
Casio used topology optimization — computer modelling of stress patterns under drops, vibration, and centrifugal force — to design the new Dual Hollow Structure. A metal outer case pairs with a resin shock-absorbing inner layer. The bezel and core also use Carbon Core Guard, a carbon-fiber-reinforced bio-based resin Casio describes as carbon-neutral, though no third-party certification has been published. The watch weighs 102 g, measures 56.7 × 47.3 × 14.1 mm, and carries a sapphire crystal with anti-glare coating.
All three models share the same spec sheet: Tough Solar charging, Bluetooth pairing, Multiband 6 radio time sync across six global transmitters, and 200 m water resistance. The matte anti-glare dial and low-reflection crystal are aimed at outdoor readability.

The lineup and where to buy
Three variants cover the range. The GWR-B3000-1A comes with a black bezel at $880, the GWR-B3000A-2A adds a blue bezel at $990, and the GWR-B3000B-8A tops out at $1,100 with a silver bezel. US stock is available now at gshock.com and select retailers. UK orders carry a 4–6 week shipping window, per BigGo Finance. At £750 entry, the Gravitymaster undercuts Omega Seamaster Pro pricing while sitting above Seiko Prospex aviation models — a deliberate position between functional tool watch and premium spend.
