Dexter Morgan is back on the hunt — and this time he's competing with two high-profile killers while his own son starts a career with the NYPD. Paramount+ dropped first-look images on July 28 for Dexter: Resurrection Season 2, confirming an October 2026 premiere and a full 10-episode run, per Paramount Press Express.

Two villains, one very complicated family

Michael C. Hall returns as Dexter Morgan, now settled — uneasily — in New York. Harrison, his son, joins the police department as cover for his own dark impulses, echoing the path Dexter's adoptive father Harry laid out decades ago. The family-of-killers dynamic is the show's clearest callback to its strongest seasons.

The two new antagonists are the draw here. Brian Cox, fresh off Succession, plays Don Framt, aka The New York Ripper. Dan Stevens plays The Five Borough Killer. Fans who remember John Lithgow's Trinity Killer in Season 4 will recognize the template — a charismatic, seemingly respectable man with a body count. Cox's casting in particular leans hard into that comparison.

Showrunner Clyde Phillips — who ran the original Dexter through its first four seasons and returned for New Blood — confirmed the October window. Screen Rant reports the production-to-premiere pipeline mirrors Season 1's six-month model, which debuted to 3.1 million global viewers in its first three days.

The returning cast

Uma Thurman, Krysten Ritter, James Remar, Desmond Harrington, Dominic Fumusa, Kadia Saraf, and Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine all return. Gabriel Luna — best known as Tommy Miller in The Last of Us Season 2 — joins as guest star Ray Ballard.

The October timing

An October premiere isn't accidental. The original Dexter debuted on October 1, 2006, and the show built its identity around fall horror-adjacent storytelling. Season 2 landing in the same month marks the franchise's 20th anniversary — a detail Paramount's marketing will almost certainly lean into. No specific premiere date within October has been announced yet.
