Keychron G3 Air: a 43-gram gaming mouse with carbon fiber and 8K wireless polling
Keychron has announced the G3 Air, a 43-gram gaming mouse with a carbon-fiber composite shell and 8,000Hz polling rate in both wired and wireless modes. It launches in China on August 31, 2026, priced at 599 CNY (roughly $88). No release date or pricing has been confirmed for the US or UK.
The shell
At 43 grams, the G3 Air sits at the very bottom of the ultralight category — competing on paper with mice like the Pulsar X2 CrazyLight (~40g) and similar featherweights. Keychron got there without drilling holes in the case. Instead, the shell uses a 30% carbon fiber composite with walls just 0.65mm thick, reinforced internally by a cross-brace frame. The result is a solid, creak-free body that doesn't flex under grip pressure. Dimensions are 120 × 63 × 38.3mm — a symmetrical shape suited to palm and fingertip grips, sized for small to medium hands. The surface is matte-textured, and the feet are 100% PTFE (Teflon) for smooth tracking.
The hardware
Inside, Keychron fitted the PixArt PAW3950 — currently one of the top optical sensors available, with 30,000 DPI max, 750 IPS tracking speed, and 50G acceleration. The controller is a Nordic nRF54L15. Under the main buttons sit TTC Falcon optical-mechanical switches rated for 80 million clicks.
Connectivity covers USB-C wired and 2.4GHz wireless, both at up to 8,000Hz polling. The included receiver has a small color display that shows current DPI, polling rate, and battery level in real time. The onboard battery is 200mAh — a slim capacity that raises questions about runtime at 8K wireless polling, though Keychron hasn't published battery life figures yet. Bluetooth is not listed in the spec sheet, unlike the standard G3, which may reflect a weight trade-off.

Availability
The G3 Air goes on sale via JD.com on August 31, 2026 at 599 CNY (~$88). The standard Keychron G3 (44g) is available on Keychron's US and UK stores at $84.99–$109.99 but has been backordered since its April 2026 launch. Whether the G3 Air follows it to global markets — and at what price — is unknown. Guru3D notes the battery runtime and regional rollout as the two biggest open questions. For now, it's a China-exclusive launch worth keeping an eye on if you're in the market for a sub-50g mouse that doesn't look like Swiss cheese.
