Xiaomi's new Pro shaver has an AI skin sensor and two months of battery life
Xiaomi has added a new electric shaver to its lineup, and the headline feature is a skin sensor that automatically starts and stops the motor as it makes contact with your face. The Mijia Portable Electric Shaver Pro launched on Xiaomi Youpin, the company's crowdfunding platform in China, priced at 296.65 CNY — roughly $44 or £35. That rises to 349 CNY (around $52) once the campaign ends.
The look
The body is machined from an aluminum alloy, which gives it a feel well above its price point. Three color options are available: silver, dark grey, and gold. It's a compact, travel-focused design — the kind of thing you slip into a wash bag without a second thought.
The claim
The shaving system uses dual circular mesh blades in stainless steel, designed to catch short stubble without snagging. The Pro's main differentiator over Xiaomi's existing S-series shavers is that AI skin sensor: the motor kicks in automatically when the shaver touches skin and cuts out the moment you pull it away. Xiaomi says this also helps preserve battery life.
On battery, Xiaomi claims 60 days of use from a single charge — consistent with the marketing on its S301 and S500 models. If you run it flat, USB-C pass-through charging lets you shave while it's plugged in.
The IPX8 waterproof rating means the shaver can be fully submerged, which is a step up from the IPX7 rating on Xiaomi's EU S500 model. That makes it genuinely shower-safe, not just splash-resistant.
Availability
The Pro is currently a China crowdfunding exclusive. In the UK and US, Xiaomi's older S200-series shavers are available on Amazon and eBay starting around £50, but the Pro model has no confirmed Western release date or distributor. If Xiaomi does bring it to the EU and US market at a price around $44–52, it would sit in a competitive spot — the auto-on skin sensor is a feature you won't find on most rivals at this price, including the Panasonic ES-CM3BK. For now, though, it's a China-only launch.
