Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is coming to Nintendo Switch 2, but you'll wait until autumn

Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 launches August 25, 2026 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S — and a new co-op trailer confirmed a Nintendo Switch 2 version is on the way, though Cold Iron Studios hasn't locked down an exact date beyond "autumn 2026." For anyone eyeing the handheld version, that likely means a Q4 wait while console and PC players dive in first.

Four players, one new class

The sequel expands the core squad size from three to four players, which is the most meaningful structural change over the original. Each player still picks from a roster of distinct classes with individual weapon loadouts and abilities. The new addition is the Specialist class — a hybrid that can mix major and minor abilities pulled from any other class, giving squads more flexibility on tougher missions.

Cold Iron is also promising a more polished overall experience: better progression systems and tighter technical execution, two areas where the first game drew criticism.

Price and editions

Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is priced as a mid-tier release — $49.99 for the Standard Edition and $69.99 for the Premium Edition. No official UK or EU pricing has been announced yet, though a £34.99–£39.99 conversion would be a reasonable expectation based on typical tier-2 pricing. Pre-orders are live now on Steam and Epic Games Store.

The Premium Edition bundles three cosmetic DLC packs tied to the Alien franchise's 40th anniversary: Ripley's Hive Exterminator Pack, Herk's Mondo Pest Pack, and Rain's Jackson's Star Pack. Standard Edition buyers can pick up the packs separately for $20 total — or grab the Rain's Jackson pack alone for $9.99.

Switch 2 timing

The Switch 2 port is confirmed but comes with no firm date. Autumn 2026 is a crowded window on Nintendo's platform, with Metaphor: ReFantazio and Fire Emblem both targeting September. AFE2's co-op focus is distinct enough that it shouldn't get buried — but a late October or November slot would give it more room to breathe.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is developed by Cold Iron Studios and published by Daybreak Game Company in partnership with 20th Century Games.
