Reanimal's First DLC, The Prisoner, Is Out Now — Announced and Released Within 24 Hours

Reanimal has its first paid DLC, and it landed without warning — announced at the THQ Nordic Showcase on August 7, 2026, then released the very next day. The Prisoner is available now on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, and PC for $9.99 / £7.99, giving fans of the February horror hit a reason to return well before the summer ends.

The setup

Reanimal launched February 13, 2026, developed by Tarsier Studios — the team behind the Little Nightmares series — and published by THQ Nordic. It landed with an 81% Metacritic score on PS5 and PC, making it one of the stronger indie horror releases of the year. The Prisoner continues in the same vein: a co-op platformer-horror with puzzle elements, set in a war-ravaged city that was once thriving.

The two playable characters are new to the story. You control the Prisoner, navigating the ruins, while a second player steps in as the Soldier. Together they face environmental puzzles and creature encounters across what looks like the game's bleakest setting yet.

The roadmap

THQ Nordic isn't treating this as a one-off drop. Two more DLCs are already dated: the second arrives October 14, 2026, and a third follows February 10, 2027. A Deluxe Edition of Reanimal includes a season pass covering all three. At $9.99 per pack, the pricing sits well below the premium end of the DLC market — Gematsu REANIMAL DLC pricing confirmed multi-region pricing including £7.99 for the UK.

The same-day release is a deliberate move. Announcing and shipping within 24 hours cuts through the noise of a packed showcase slate and removes the wait that tends to blunt momentum. For players who finished the base game and wanted more, there's no gap to fill — The Prisoner is already there.

If you haven't touched Reanimal yet, the base game is available on the same platforms. The GameSpot THQ Nordic Showcase 2026 coverage has the full context of the announcement alongside everything else revealed at the event.
