Meizu's 14mm Pandaer PTC16 packs 80W into a charger the size of a pack of gum
Meizu's Pandaer sub-brand has launched the PTC16, an 80W GaN charger just 14mm thick — roughly the width of a standard USB plug — that the company says can replace multiple separate chargers in a bag. Priced at 149–199 yuan (around $21–28) in China, it sits at the budget end of the ultra-slim charger market. Whether it ever makes it to the US or UK is another question entirely.
The slim pitch
GaN (gallium nitride) semiconductors are what make this possible. They run cooler and pack more power density than traditional silicon components, which is why GaN chargers have been shrinking steadily over the past few years. The PTC16 takes that to an extreme, measuring just 14mm thick — slim enough to slip into a jeans pocket or the thin organizer sleeve of a laptop bag. A foldable plug keeps it from snagging on anything.
The design is clean and restrained, in line with Meizu's broader aesthetic. It won't look out of place next to a MacBook or a premium Android phone.

Three ports, one brick
The PTC16 is claimed to carry three USB-C ports with a combined 80W output. One port can deliver the full 80W when used alone; plug in multiple devices and power distributes dynamically between them. Supported protocols include Power Delivery (PD) and PPS, covering fast charging for most modern phones, tablets, and compact laptops like the MacBook Air.
A note of caution: the three-USB-C configuration has not been independently verified in English-language sources. Existing Pandaer 80W GaN charger models confirmed elsewhere use different port mixes — one variant pairs two USB-C ports with a single USB-A. The PTC16's exact spec sheet deserves a second look before you buy.
Availability
The PTC16 is priced for the Chinese market and sold through Chinese retail channels. There is no official Meizu or authorized reseller presence in the US or UK for this model. Anyone outside China would need to import it via a gray-market platform, with no warranty support and potential customs costs on top of the sticker price.
For context, the ultra-slim GaN charger segment is well-served in Western markets. Anker, UGREEN, and Baseus all offer compact multi-port options with established reviews, local warranties, and straightforward returns — advantages the PTC16 simply can't match right now.
If Pandaer ever commits to a broader launch, the combination of 80W output and 14mm thickness would be genuinely competitive. For now, it's an interesting proof of concept from a brand that doesn't yet have a real foothold outside China.
