The production excuse doesn't hold

That explanation is hard to square with the timeline: filming finished in September 2025, and the show has never missed a production deadline before. The more plausible read is strategic. Season 4 — the first with Liam Hemsworth replacing Henry Cavill as Geralt — premiered in October 2025 and saw viewership drop by 50% compared to prior seasons, per Winter is Coming. That's a significant audience loss for a show heading into its finale.

Filling out 2027
