JBL Pulse 6: Unleash a 360-Degree Light and Sound Show for $370
JBL continues to exploit the idea of "sound visualization" for those who find ordinary music from a speaker insufficient. The new portable acoustics Pulse 6 has officially entered the market, traditionally starting its journey from China. This is already the sixth iteration of the device, which more closely resembles a futuristic night lamp than a serious audio instrument, but that is its main charm.
Light show without compromises
The main change in Pulse 6 compared to its predecessors is an even larger lighting area. Now the LED panel occupies almost the entire inner part of the transparent body, creating a 360-degree illusion of volumetric light. Users can customize the lighting effects through the proprietary app, adjusting the pulsation to the music tempo or simply creating an atmosphere for evening relaxation. It is still the same "innovative" concept where aesthetics dominate everything else.
Specifications and sound
Despite focusing on appearance, JBL has not forgotten about the sound. Inside, a JBL Pro Sound system is installed, which includes a separate subwoofer for dense bass and a dedicated tweeter for high-frequency clarity. The overall power of the device allows it to "pump up" a small room or pool area. Speaking of pools: the device has IP67 standard protection, so submersion in water or a sandstorm is not a concern. For data transmission, a modern protocol Bluetooth 6.0 is used, which guarantees a stable connection without delays.
Ecosystem and autonomy
Pulse 6 supports the PartyBoost technology, which allows multiple brand speakers to be networked together. This is useful if you decide to throw a real disco where light and sound need to be synchronized. As for autonomy, the device is designed for 12 hours of continuous operation, although active use of lighting at maximum brightness may somewhat reduce this time. The speaker charges via a standard USB-C port.
The price of the issue
On the Chinese market, the novelty is priced at 2499 yuan, which is approximately $370 (16 600 UAH). This makes the Pulse 6 one of the most expensive solutions in the brand's portable acoustics range. The high price is explained by the complexity of the design and the use of premium materials to create the "magical" glow. It is expected that on the global market the price will be similar, automatically placing the device in the category of image accessories for those who are willing to pay extra for the visual effect.
While JBL experiments with form and light, other tech giants are forced to abandon their ambitious plans. For example, it was recently revealed that the bezel-less glass iPhone will not appear on sale as Apple could not overcome the production's technical difficulties.
