CD Projekt officially becomes CD Projekt RED after 32 years
The company that made The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 has a new name on paper — and it's one you already know. CD Projekt officially became CD Projekt RED SA on August 10, 2026, after shareholders approved the change in June and Polish courts completed the registration. For legal and investor-relations purposes the full name is CD Projekt RED SA; everyone else just drops the SA.

This is a name update only. The Company remains the same legal entity, and all registration and contact details remain unchanged.
The structure behind the name
Here's why it took 32 years to get here. CD Projekt was the holding company, founded in 1994. CD Projekt RED was only ever the game development subsidiary, spun up in 2002. For most of that time the two-name setup made sense — the group also ran GOG, the DRM-free PC gaming storefront. But per VGC, GOG was sold off at the end of 2024, leaving game development as the company's only real business. With no non-game arm left to justify a separate holding identity, collapsing the names was a logical next step.
The Warsaw Stock Exchange ticker (CDR) stays exactly as it is. No financial restructuring is involved. Shattered.io notes the change is effectively investor-relations housekeeping — aligning the legal entity with the brand that global audiences have recognised for years. It also simplifies recruitment messaging across the studio's five locations: Warsaw, Wrocław, and Kraków in Poland, plus Vancouver and Boston in North America.
What's actually changing
For players, nothing changes at all. CD Projekt RED has been the name on every game box since The Witcher in 2007, so the rebrand just removes a layer of corporate ambiguity that most people never noticed.
What matters more is what the studio is working on. The Witcher 4 entered full production in late 2024 with more than 400 developers on the project. A Cyberpunk 2077 sequel is in development, alongside a new-IP project called Hadar, an expansion for The Witcher 3 called Songs of the Past, and several spin-offs and mobile titles. The renamed company has a crowded slate ahead — the name is the least complicated thing about it.
