ViewSonic LSD500-4K: A Lamp-Free 4K Projector Built for Venues and Large Spaces
ViewSonic has launched the LSD500-4K, a 4K UHD laser projector aimed at venues, classrooms, and commercial spaces that need reliable, high-brightness projection without ongoing lamp replacements. It puts out 5,000 ANSI lumens and supports screens up to 300 inches — big enough for an auditorium back wall. For venue operators tired of scheduling lamp swaps, the 30,000-hour laser lifespan is the headline number.

The hardware
The projector uses a 0.65-inch Texas Instruments DMD chip and supports HDR10 and HLG, so it holds up under partial ambient light. ViewSonic's third-generation laser phosphor light source is the key upgrade here: brightness is up 20% over the previous generation, while the physical footprint has shrunk by 32%. That compactness matters when you're ceiling-mounting in a tight rig or stacking units in a conference room.
The optics include a 1.6x optical zoom, full keystone correction (vertical, horizontal, and four-corner), 360° rotation support, and a portrait mode for vertical installations — useful for digital signage, retail displays, or projection mapping. The cooling system is rated for 24/7 continuous operation, which makes it viable for always-on venues like museums, shopping centers, and hotel lobbies.
360° rotation and portrait mode support non-standard installation angles.
Connectivity and the Golf Mode angle
On the connectivity side, the LSD500-4K carries HDMI 2.0b with HDCP 2.3, a USB Type-A port (5V power, handy for wireless dongles), and LAN control. It's certified for Crestron and Q-SYS ecosystems, which is a practical win for AV integrators managing multi-projector setups across large estates — think UK conference centers, universities, or museum galleries running centralized control systems.

There's also a dedicated Golf Mode that optimizes green and blue color reproduction for grass and sky tones. That's a direct pitch at golf simulators and sports bars showing live broadcasts — a growing market segment in both the US and UK.
Availability
The LSD500-4K is listed by UK AV integrator avpartsmaster.co.uk, confirming market entry. No street price has been published yet for the 4K model. A sibling 1080p version, the LSD500HD, is expected around May 2026 at roughly $1,050. Full specs are on ViewSonic's site; pricing and wider retail availability are still to be confirmed.
