Postal 2 is back: Redux arrives spring 2027 with VR support and no loading screens

Postal 2 Redux, a complete rebuild of the notoriously chaotic 2003 sandbox shooter, is confirmed for a spring 2027 release. The game will land on PS5, PS4, PC via Steam, and Meta Quest, with PS VR2 support included from day one. Xbox and Nintendo Switch versions are planned but currently listed as pending platform approval on the official Running With Scissors site.

The project was Kickstarter-funded and is a collaboration between Impact Reality, Team Beef, Flat2VR Studios, and Running With Scissors — the original developer. It successfully hit its funding goal within a single day.

The rebuild

Redux isn't a remaster — it's a ground-up reconstruction in Unity 6. The upgrade brings high-resolution textures, reworked character models, realistic lighting, and a seamless open world with zero loading screens. NPC AI has been overhauled, so townspeople react more plausibly to the player's actions. Physics and interior destructibility have also been improved, and widescreen monitors, modern controller layouts, and updated UI are all supported out of the box.

The core gameplay loop stays intact. Players guide the Postal Dude through an ordinary week of errands that can spiral into full-blown mayhem — or not. The original's sandbox freedom remains: complete every task peacefully, or burn the town down. Your call.

Champ is back

The Postal Dude's dog Champ returns with expanded interactions. Players can pet him, carry him, or — in keeping with the game's tone — use him as a weapon. He can now also bite passersby on command.

Platforms and pricing

Spring 2027 on PS5, PS4 (with PS VR2 support), PC via Steam, and Meta Quest. The VR option on both PS VR2 and Steam VR positions Redux as a premium experience; the Meta Quest port keeps it accessible without a PC or console. Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch versions are coming later, though no firm window has been given for either.

UK and EU pricing has not been announced. Pre-order listings have appeared on third-party retailers, but no official RRP is confirmed yet, per Gematsu. The original Postal 2 was banned or restricted in several territories after its 2003 launch; no age-rating or content-cut details for Redux have been confirmed so far.
