Scale speed is the bit nobody explains in listings: at 1:18, 36 km/h works out to roughly 650 km/h if the truck were full size. You are not tracking a slow object. You are tracking a small one going faster than your thumbs are ready for.
The 380 motor pulls hard from a standstill, and that matters far more than terminal speed for how a truck feels to drive. Brushed motors make their torque down low, and this one lifts the front wheels on a hard launch with no wheelie bar helping. Top speed shows up in about three seconds on pavement and takes noticeably longer on grass. Both are fine. Neither is where the fun actually lives.
The top-speed race in this bracket decides almost nothing. Four km/h between rivals disappears the second the surface changes, and the truck with real differentials will out-corner the faster one across anything that is not flat tarmac.
The low-speed mode deserves more credit than it gets. Flick the switch on the transmitter and throttle response drops to something a kid can steer without burying the truck in a hedge inside a minute. Jumps ate most of my month. There is enough suspension travel to land flat off a curb or a plywood ramp without slamming into the chassis, and the truck rights itself maybe half the time when a landing goes wrong. Best result was clearing about six feet of gap off a skate park quarter pipe. Worst was cartwheeling it across concrete four times running and walking away with one cracked body clip.
Batteries, Runtime and Charging

HAIBOXING quotes 35 minutes and up across the pair, which matched what I saw once I stopped pinning the throttle constantly. Owners who mix speeds report closer to 45 minutes total. Stay in high-speed mode at full throttle the whole way and you are looking at 12 to 15 minutes per pack.
Charging. USB cable in the box, roughly two hours per pack, no wall adapter included. Use a proper 5V adapter rather than a fast-charge phone brick. The honest note here is that this is a basic charger, and if the hobby sticks you will want a real balance charger within a couple of months. That path is normal for everyone, and it says nothing bad about the truck.
The Upgrade Everyone Makes. These are common 7.4V packs on a standard connector, so buying two more turns a 35-minute afternoon into an hour and a half. Cheapest improvement available and the first thing I would spend money on after the truck itself. Low-voltage cutoff protects the cells from over-discharge, so running a pack until the ESC pulls the plug will not damage it.

A month of deliberate abuse cost me one cracked body clip and a set of scuffed tires. The PVC shell flexes rather than shattering, the roll cage takes the hit in a rollover, and the chassis showed no cracks or bends anywhere. I put it into a curb square at full speed fully expecting to snap a steering arm. It bounced, landed upside down and carried on once I flipped it back over.
Water resistance is worth setting expectations around properly. The ESC is IPX4, the servo and receiver are sealed against splashes, and wet grass, light rain and shallow puddles are all fine. Standing water deep enough to reach the chassis plate is asking for a repair, and one truck in my comparison carries IPX5 for exactly this scenario. Rinse the outside, never submerge, dry the electronics bay before it goes back on the shelf.
Parts availability is the reason I would put money on this truck over its rivals. Here is how I read that table. Both rivals claim 40+ km/h against the HAIBOXING's 36, and both quote a slightly longer session. Neither of those gaps survived contact with an actual field. DEERC and BEZGAR run metal spring shocks, which bounce more on landings and cannot be tuned by changing oil weight the way the oil-capped units on the 18859 can. BEZGAR takes the water rating with IPX5 and hands you a whole spare shell, which is a real cost saving the first time you crack one.
What tips it for me is the drivetrain nobody photographs. HAIBOXING publishes its bearings and its front and rear gear differentials. DEERC lists an alloy and nylon differential and stops there. BEZGAR does not describe either. Sealed bearings and gear diffs at both ends are what keep a truck tight after a hundred crashes, and they are also the parts you cannot retrofit cheaply later. Take the BEZGAR if you want the bigger 1:16 body and the better splash rating. Take the DEERC if you want the longest quoted runtime in a 1:18 shell. I would still put my money on the chassis.

Is the HAIBOXING 18859 Worth It?
A month of deliberate abuse later, this is still the truck I reach for when I want to go and bash something without planning it first. The trade-offs are easy to tick off: 36 km/h against the 40+ both rivals claim, IPX4 rather than IPX5, and a charger you will outgrow. None of them changed how often I picked it up.
For a first proper RC rather than a toy with a remote taped to it, this is where I would start anybody. Sealed bearings, gear diffs, metal drive shafts and oil shocks are the parts that decide whether a budget truck survives its first season, and a published parts catalogue means a snapped arm costs ten minutes instead of the whole truck. Grab a second pair of batteries alongside it, keep it out of deep water, and the brushless 18859A is waiting on the same chassis whenever you want more.
