PlayStation's first gaming monitor costs $349 — but UK buyers are shut out
Sony is launching its first PlayStation-branded gaming monitor on August 27, 2026, priced at $349.99 — but only in the US and Japan. Pre-orders opened June 5. UK buyers have no confirmed date or price, and there's no indication that's changing soon.
The dock trick
The standout feature is a retractable DualSense charging dock built into the monitor's base. No other gaming monitor ships with one. It folds away when not in use, keeps your controller charged at your desk, and it's genuinely useful — not a gimmick. Sony is also positioning this monitor as part of a wider desktop ecosystem alongside the upcoming Pulse Elevate wireless speakers.

The specs
The panel is a 27-inch IPS at QHD resolution (2560×1440). On PC or Mac, it runs up to 240Hz with VRR. On a PS5 or PS5 Pro, you're capped at 120Hz — the console's hardware ceiling, not the monitor's. That 240Hz figure is real, but it's a PC spec dressed in PlayStation clothing. Connectivity covers two HDMI 2.1 ports, one DisplayPort 1.4, two USB-A, and one USB-C with PlayStation Link support for Sony's wireless accessories.
The problem
At $349, this monitor goes head-to-head with QD-OLED options like the MSI 240Hz model at the same price point. OLED delivers deeper blacks and better contrast than IPS — Sony's panel is a technical step back versus what the market already offers at this price. The DualSense dock is a genuine differentiator, but it may not be enough.
The geographic split is also worth noting. Sony's FlexStrike fight stick launches globally with confirmed pricing — £179.99 in the UK, €199.99 in Europe. The monitor gets none of that. UK buyers are left out entirely, with no timeline given. That looks less like an oversight and more like a deliberate call to deprioritize the European monitor market, at least for now.
Per the PlayStation Blog official, US pre-orders are live through PlayStation Direct and Best Buy. TechInsider notes there are no EU launch plans confirmed at this stage.
