Fable's minimum PC specs are modest — an RTX 2060 runs it at 1080p

Playground Games has confirmed the PC system requirements for Fable, and they're friendlier than expected for a game promising a vast open world. The minimum spec — an RTX 2060 paired with 12GB of RAM — targets 1080p at 30 FPS on low settings, hardware that's now six years old. For anyone already on Game Pass Ultimate, the day-one inclusion means there's no upfront cost at all.

The specs

The minimum configuration calls for an AMD Ryzen 5 2600 or Intel i7-6850K CPU, an RTX 2060, RX 6600, or Intel A580 GPU, and 12GB of RAM. That's a lower bar than Starfield or Dragon Age: The Veilguard demanded at launch, which makes Fable unusually accessible for a modern AAA open-world title.

Moving up, the recommended tier — aimed at 1440p/30 FPS or 1200p/60 FPS on medium settings — asks for an RTX 3060 Ti or RX 6700 XT and 16GB of RAM. High settings at 1440p/60 FPS require an RTX 3080 Ti or RX 7900 XT, and 4K ultra pushes all the way to an RTX 4080. Per Steam official specs, every tier requires ray tracing support and a mandatory SSD — no hard drive fallback.

Fable system requirements across all PC tiers, from minimum 1080p/30 FPS to 4K ultra.

One thing to flag: storage. The game needs 135GB on that SSD, which is a substantial ask. Most players will need to uninstall two or three other modern titles before Fable even downloads.

Game Pass and the cast

For subscribers, Xbox's product page confirms day-one Game Pass availability on both Ultimate and PC tiers, which undercuts the $69.99 / £59.99 standard edition price significantly. The game also supports Xbox Play Anywhere, so a single purchase on Xbox covers both console and PC.

On the story side, Playground is leaning into British talent. Hayley Atwell — known from the MCU and Mission: Impossible — plays Isabel, the main antagonist who aims to conquer all of Albion. A recent trailer also teased the return of Jack of Blades, the villain from the original Fable, hinting the story has more going on beneath its fairy-tale framing.

Fable launches February 23, 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store. It marks the first time the franchise has appeared on a PlayStation console.
