Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max claims 5 million AnTuTu — but can it challenge the iPad Pro 13?

Xiaomi has unveiled the Pad 9 Pro Max, a large-format tablet built around its own Xring O3 chip that the company says scores over 5.22 million points in the AnTuTu benchmark — the first mobile processor to cross the 5-million mark. For context, most current Android flagships hover just above 2 million. The catch: this launch is confirmed for China on September 7, with no US or UK pricing or availability announced.

The chip

The Xring O3 uses an all-big-core design — 10 cores in a 6+4 arrangement running up to 4.35 GHz — rather than the efficiency-core mix used by Qualcomm and MediaTek. Xiaomi claims the 16-core GPU delivers an 85% performance jump over the previous generation, with support for third-generation ray tracing. Those numbers come per NoKiaMob from Xiaomi's own lab tests. Pre-launch Geekbench results show a multi-core score of around 13,200, which is strong but doesn't match the scale implied by the AnTuTu figure — independent retail validation hasn't happened yet.

The hardware

The Pad 9 Pro Max has a 13.3-inch LCD display, putting it directly in the same size class as the iPad Pro 13. The body is all-metal, and a deep wine-red finish is among the confirmed color options — a shade insiders have speculated could also appear on the iPhone 18 Pro, though that remains unconfirmed. An XRING camera module sits on the rear, and Xiaomi has shown a matching physical keyboard case, hinting at the productivity angle the company is pushing.

Battery capacity clears 10,000 mAh with 120W wired charging, and the tablet weighs around 650g, according to Gizmochina.

The software question

The Pad 9 Pro Max is the first tablet to ship with HyperOS 4, which Xiaomi says is optimized for large-screen use and promises "PC-level" app support. No specific app partners or productivity suite integrations have been named. Apple's iPadOS and Microsoft's Windows on ARM both have years of established large-screen workflows; HyperOS 4 on this platform is unproven in practice.

Worth watching

The iPad Pro 13 with M5 starts at around $1,199 in the US. Xiaomi's competitive pricing has historically been one of its strongest arguments outside China, but without confirmed figures, the value case for the Pad 9 Pro Max remains open.
