Tecno Camon Slim 5G: Ultra-thin phone with a 6000 mAh battery and IP69 rating

Tecno unveiled the Camon Slim 5G at IFA 2026, pushing back against the idea that ultra-thin phones can't last. At just 6.39mm thick, it carries a 6000 mAh battery — larger than what you'll find in most mid-range phones — and holds IP68 and IP69 certifications. No price or release date has been confirmed yet outside of a general "local markets" rollout plan.

The design

The Camon Slim 5G is available in five finishes: Burgundy Red, New Mondrian, Van Gogh Blue, Prism Black, and Jungle Green. The New Mondrian option features a photochromic effect that shifts appearance in different lighting. The phone's 6.78-inch AMOLED display runs at up to 144Hz with a 1.5K resolution — a solid screen for a device at this price tier.

The specs

Inside sits a MediaTek Dimensity 7300e chip — a budget-tier processor, per GSMArena — paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage. An additional 16GB of virtual RAM expansion is supported. The main camera is a 50MP sensor (1/1.56-inch) with optical image stabilization, backed by an 8MP ultrawide. The front camera is 32MP.

Charging is handled at 45W, which is adequate but not class-leading. The phone runs Android 16 with Tecno's HiOS 16 skin and is promised three major OS updates. Tecno AI features are built in, and eSIM is supported.

The durability claim

This is where Tecno makes its boldest case. The Camon Slim 5G is rated IP68 and IP69 — meaning it survives submersion at 2 meters for 30 minutes and high-pressure water jets. Tecno also claims it can handle temperatures up to 80°C and survive a cycle in a washing machine. Those are company assertions and haven't been independently verified, but they go well beyond what most thin phones promise. It also carries MIL-STD-810H certification for drop and shock resistance.

What's missing

Pricing and availability haven't been confirmed for the US, UK, or any other specific market, per Tecno's product page. The Dimensity 7300e puts this firmly in the budget-to-mid-range bracket — don't expect it to compete with Samsung's Galaxy S series or Apple's iPhone on raw performance. If Tecno prices it around the $260–$300 mark suggested by its positioning, it would land well below the Samsung Galaxy A37 5G at $465. That's the real pitch: flagship-looking design with durable credentials at a mid-range price — if the availability actually materialises in Western markets.
