Rebel Wolves is already building a sequel to The Blood of Dawnwalker

Rebel Wolves isn't wasting any time. Less than two weeks after launching The Blood of Dawnwalker, the Polish studio founded by Witcher 3 veterans has confirmed it's already developing a follow-up. The debut game sold over 1 million copies in its first 48 hours across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S — and Bandai Namco, the publisher, has signaled the franchise is built to last.

The announcement

Narrative Director Jakub Szamalek posted on LinkedIn confirming the studio has kicked off early-stage development on the next entry in the Dawnwalker saga. The concept is already in progress, and Rebel Wolves is now recruiting a Lead Writer to help shape it.

> "The Blood of Dawnwalker launched to great reviews and sold a million copies in its first weekend. But we're not resting on our laurels — not even close! We're already thinking about what comes next. So! Drumroll! I'm looking for a Lead Writer to help me and my team write the next chapter of the Dawnwalker saga."

The hiring move — posted within days of launch — suggests Bandai Namco has already greenlit further development. That said, Szamalek noted a "several years" gap before anything ships, so this is squarely pre-production for now.

The franchise plan

Rebel Wolves has been clear from the start that The Blood of Dawnwalker is not a standalone game. Bandai Namco confirmed at Summer Game Fest in June 2026 that the franchise is planned to span multiple centuries, continents, and eras — including modern-day settings. A teaser showed protagonist Coen, originally from 14th-century Europe, living in the present day, pointing squarely at where the story is headed.

The first game landed well. It scored 85 on OpenCritic with a 92% critic recommend rate and 83 on Metacritic, backed by over 7,000 "Very Positive" Steam reviews. Some players flagged performance issues at launch, though patches are expected to address those over the coming weeks.

What's next

The studio — built by Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, director of The Witcher 3, and a group of CD Projekt Red alumni — has pulled off a strong debut. One million copies in two days is a meaningful result for a new IP from a first-time studio, and the critical reception gives the franchise a solid foundation. How quickly Rebel Wolves can follow up, and whether Bandai Namco maintains that franchise ambition over several years of development, are the real questions now. Per Inven Global, no release window for the sequel has been set.
