Samsung's Galaxy Tab S12 will cost significantly more — and there's no base model

Samsung's next flagship tablet line is shaping up to be its most expensive yet — and the entry-level model is gone entirely. Leaked European pricing from reliable tipster Roland Quandt puts the Galaxy Tab S12+ at €1,299 ($1,199.99 in the US), a €400 jump over the Tab S11's €899 starting price. Samsung is quietly repositioning its tablet business toward premium and professional buyers, and the price sheet makes that unmistakably clear.

No more base model

The standard Galaxy Tab S12 has been scrapped. Instead, the Tab S12+ steps in as the new entry point — and it doesn't come cheap. The Wi-Fi 12GB/256GB version is expected to start at €1,299 in Europe and $1,199.99 in the US, per Android Authority. That's a meaningful leap from the Tab S10+, which sold from €1,119 in 2024.

The Tab S12 Ultra fares similarly: the 256GB Wi-Fi model is expected at €1,539 (up from €1,339 for the S11 Ultra), with the US equivalent at $1,399.99. Every 5G variant adds €150/$150 on top.

Storage upgrades carry a steep premium too. Moving from 256GB to 512GB costs an extra €200, pushing the Tab S12 Ultra 5G with 512GB to €1,889. The top-tier 16GB/1TB Ultra configuration — confirmed at $2,000 in the US — may clear €2,000 in Europe, reports IntoMobile.

What's driving the increases

Samsung's component division (LSI) has been squeezed by a global RAM shortage, pushing memory costs up across its entire mobile lineup — the Galaxy S26 and the Z8 foldables are facing similar hikes. The Tab S12 pricing is partly a response to those supply pressures and partly a deliberate segment shift away from casual users toward content creators and professionals.

On specs, the Tab S12 Ultra is expected to run a MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chip and feature a 14.6-inch display with a larger 11,600 mAh battery. The Tab S12+ gets a 12.4-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel at 120Hz and a 10,600 mAh cell. Both models ship with an S Pen and will receive seven years of Android and security updates.

How it stacks up

At $1,199.99, the Tab S12+ goes up against an iPad Pro 11-inch that starts at $999 — Apple currently undercuts Samsung by $200 at the entry level. UK availability through carriers like O2, Vodafone, and EE is expected around Q4 2026, with no official date confirmed yet. None of these prices are official; Samsung has not yet announced the Tab S12 series publicly.
