Xiaomi's Mijia Night Light 4 uses radar to find you in the dark — and costs $9
Xiaomi has launched the Mijia Night Light 4 on crowdfunding in China, and it packs a 24GHz radar sensor into a device that costs less than a cup of coffee. Most budget night lights still rely on basic infrared motion detection — radar at this price point is a genuine step up, and if the global rollout follows past patterns, it could land on Amazon within months.
The radar difference
A 24GHz millimeter-wave radar detects motion across a 120° field, reaching three meters straight ahead and 2.5 meters to each side, per Gizmochina. That's meaningfully more sensitive than the infrared sensors found in most sub-$20 competitors. The light activates automatically in low-ambient conditions and stays on for ten seconds after you leave the detection zone, then shuts off without any input needed.

The design and battery
The bulb faces the wall rather than your eyes, bouncing light off the surface to create a soft, diffused glow. Xiaomi claims no visible flicker and no blue-light hazard — relevant if you're using this in a bedroom or hallway at 3am. Four brightness levels are available: 1, 3, 5, and 15 lumens.
Inside sits an 800mAh battery charged via USB-C. Xiaomi claims eight months of typical use on a single charge, dropping to three months at maximum brightness, according to XimiTime. Those are Xiaomi's own figures, so real-world mileage may vary.
Price and availability
The crowdfunding price is 59 yuan (around $9 / £7), with a two-unit bundle at 115 yuan (around $17 / £13). The campaign opens September 9 on Xiaomi Youpin, a China-only platform. The standard retail price after the campaign ends is expected to be 79 yuan (roughly $12 / £9).
No UK or US release has been confirmed. The previous Mijia Night Light 3 appeared on Amazon UK at around £20–30, suggesting this model could follow via Amazon Global or AliExpress in late 2026. For now, importing is the only option — and at that price, the main competition is Philips and Eve Motion sensors that cost two to five times as much.
