Xiaomi Pad 9 and Pad 9 Pro: 3.2K Snapdragon tablets starting at $419 — but no Western launch yet
Xiaomi launched two new Android tablets in China on September 14 — the Pad 9 and Pad 9 Pro — priced from roughly $419 and $531 respectively at current exchange rates. Both models offer 3.2K LCD screens at 144Hz in slim metal bodies under 6mm thick. No US or UK availability has been announced, though firmware leaks point to a possible global rollout as early as October 2026, per Notebookcheck.
The hardware
The Pad 9 uses an 11.2-inch display (3200×2136, 800 nits peak) powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4. That chip is the same used in the Pad 8, meaning existing Pad 8 owners won't see a dramatic speed jump. It ships with a 9,720mAh battery and 45W fast charging, a 13MP rear camera, and an 8MP front shooter — video tops out at 1080p.

The Pad 9 Pro steps up to a larger 12.5-inch panel (1000 nits peak) and the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. Battery capacity grows to 11,000mAh with 67W charging, and cameras jump to 50MP rear and 32MP front with 4K video recording. Both panels support 12-bit color, DCI-P3, HDR10, and Dolby Vision.

Both tablets share a four-speaker Dolby Atmos setup, HyperOS 4, compatibility with Xiaomi's magnetic stylus and keyboard cover, plus bundled WPS for Pad and CapCut Pro.

The price vs. the competition
In China, the Pad 9 runs from about $419 (8GB/128GB) to $531 (12/256GB). The Pad 9 Pro starts at roughly $531 and tops out near $699 for the 16GB/256GB configuration. If Xiaomi follows the same conversion pattern it used for the Pad 7 Pro — which sold in China for around $530 and landed in the UK at £449 — the Pad 9 Pro could land somewhere in the £400–£450 range. Import duties and VAT could push that figure another 15–20% higher.
At those prices, the Pad 9 Pro would sit below Apple's 11-inch iPad Air (£599) and Samsung's Galaxy Tab S10 (around £469 street), making it a plausible alternative — if it arrives. The Lenovo Tab P12 Pro Gen 2 with its OLED screen is available now for around £500 and is worth considering while Xiaomi's timeline remains unclear.
The outlook
Xiaomi's typical gap between a China launch and a European debut runs four to six months, so a late 2026 arrival in the US and UK isn't ruled out. Model number 26103RP65G carries a "G" suffix that signals global intent — but firmware leaks are not release dates. The company has made no official comment on Western pricing or availability.
