Ugreen's LinkStation Pro is the first Thunderbolt 5 eGPU dock under $500
External GPUs have always been held back by bandwidth — until now. Ugreen has launched the LinkStation Pro, the first eGPU dock built on Thunderbolt 5, priced at around $450. It ends a genuine three-year drought in mainstream external GPU enclosures, with Razer having discontinued its Core X back in 2023 and few credible alternatives filling the gap since.
The bandwidth problem, solved
Thunderbolt 5 runs at 80 Gbps — double the 40 Gbps ceiling of Thunderbolt 4. That matters because bandwidth has been the single biggest bottleneck for eGPU performance, historically limiting a connected card to around 65–70% of what it could do in a desktop slot. As How-To Geek notes, Thunderbolt 5 finally matches OCuLink's 64 Gbps PCIe bandwidth, making external GPUs genuinely viable for gaming again.
The LinkStation Pro also carries an OCuLink port (64 Gbps PCIe 4.0 x4) for machines that support it, giving you a second high-bandwidth path. Backward compatibility with USB4, Thunderbolt 3, and Thunderbolt 4 means you don't need a brand-new laptop to use it.

What's inside the box
The built-in power supply is rated at 850W, certified 80 Plus Gold, and complies with the ATX 3.1 standard. It includes a 12V-2×6 connector, which is the plug required by RTX 40-series cards and the upcoming RTX 50 series. The dock also delivers up to 140W of power back to your laptop over the Thunderbolt cable via PD 3.1 — enough to charge a high-performance laptop while you're gaming or rendering.
Physically, the enclosure fits GPUs up to 370mm long and four slots wide, covering virtually every current flagship card. Windows and Linux are both supported out of the box.
Price and availability
VideoCardz confirms the China launch price at 2,999 yuan, roughly $447 — meaningfully cheaper than the $490 of its predecessor, and with a Thunderbolt 5 upgrade to show for the price cut. US and UK Amazon availability has not been confirmed yet; the dock is currently listed on Chinese retailers including JD.com.
For context, the Aoostar EG02 enclosure sells for around $219 but ships without an integrated power supply, making Ugreen's all-in pricing more competitive than it first looks. If you've been waiting for a legitimate reason to ditch a bulky desktop without giving up GPU performance, this is the closest thing to it.
