PlayStation Plus Extra September 2026: Eight new games, including Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound and Slitterhead

Sony has confirmed the full September 2026 lineup for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium, adding eight games to the Extra catalog and two titles to the Premium Classics tier. US and UK subscribers should note that releases are staggered across mid-to-late September, while players in most other regions get the complete eight-game Extra lineup on September 15.

The lineup

The eight Extra titles span action, RPG, sports, and dating-sim comedy — a wider genre spread than most months. The full list, per the PlayStation Blog:

- RuneScape: Dragonwilds (PS5) — the long-running MMO's first-ever console release, available day one in the catalog at no extra cost - WWE 2K26 (PS5) - Ball X Pit (PS5) - Date Everything (PS5) — an absurdist dating sim where you romance household objects - Slitterhead (PS4, PS5) - Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound (PS4, PS5) - Dungeons of Hinterberg (PS4, PS5) - Sniper Elite: Resistance (PS4, PS5)

Premium subscribers also get Mega Man X Command Mission and Metro 2033 Redux added to the Classics tier — neither is a retro throwback in the traditional sense, but both are well-regarded entries worth revisiting.

The names worth knowing

Slitterhead carries some weight because of who made it. Director Keiichiro Toyama created the original Silent Hill, the Siren series, and Gravity Rush — a pedigree that makes the game worth a look even if Western reviews landed mixed, citing clunky combat alongside its genuine atmosphere.

Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound is arguably the month's strongest pick. Developed by The Game Kitchen — the Spanish studio behind the acclaimed Blasphemous — and published by Dotemu (Streets of Rage 4, TMNT: Shredder's Revenge), it earned a 92% approval rating on Steam. That kind of indie-to-console crossover success is rare, and this is the first time many PS Plus subscribers will encounter it.

RuneScape: Dragonwilds is a franchise milestone. RuneScape has existed as a browser and PC game for over two decades; this is its console debut, landing directly in the catalog so Extra subscribers can try it without a separate purchase.

The staggered rollout problem

If you're in the US or UK, check the PlayStation Blog for your specific unlock dates — Sony is spacing out the releases across the month rather than dropping everything at once. Players in Europe (outside the UK), Latin America, and Asia outside Japan get the full Extra slate on September 15. It's an odd split that penalizes two of PlayStation's biggest markets for no clear reason, notes ComicBook.
