Samsung rolls out One UI 9 to Galaxy S26 with new AI tools and privacy features

Samsung started pushing One UI 9 to the Galaxy S26 series on September 16, 2026, expanding the rollout that began on the company's foldable lineup earlier this year. The update, built on Android 17, adds a batch of Galaxy AI features alongside new security and privacy tools. If you own an S26, S26+, or S26 Ultra, the over-the-air update is either on your phone already or arriving shortly.

The new features

The most visible addition is Now Nudge, which watches what's on your screen and suggests one-tap actions without breaking your flow — saving a location from a message thread, pulling up a booking confirmation mid-chat, that kind of thing. The Now Brief panel gets redesigned interactive cards covering health stats, weather, and video recommendations.

On the camera side, My FanCam locks onto a chosen person in a crowd video and keeps them in focus throughout — useful at concerts or sports events, though it does require a Samsung Account. The built-in translator gains a Thread View that keeps conversation history visible while you translate, and the speed for live conversations has been improved. The document scanner now handles curved pages more cleanly and removes stray fingers from the frame. Voice Memo transcriptions are auto-structured with headings and tables.

Creative Studio can now suggest and generate ideas for visual content based on your Calendar events — a minor but practical productivity link.

Security and privacy

One UI 9 adds a Security Brief dashboard that gives you a daily summary of malware warnings, apps installed from unknown sources, and any that hold excessive permissions. Privacy Alerts uses on-device intelligence to flag apps that are quietly accessing your location or running in the background more than expected — no data leaves the device to make that call. A new Warranty and Care section in Settings consolidates your warranty status, repair cost estimates, diagnostics, and Samsung Care+ subscription in one place.

When to expect it

Samsung's typical pattern puts South Korea first, with the US, UK, and Germany following within days, per Samsung's official announcement. The beta program — which ran from May through September in the US, UK, Germany, India, South Korea, and Poland — is now closed.
