Control Resonant launches September 24 with a $59.99 price tag and a new lead

Remedy has dropped the launch trailer for Control Resonant, confirming a September 24 release on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. The sequel is priced at $59.99 for the standard edition — a deliberate step below the $69.99 that has become the new AAA floor. Reviews go live six days before launch, on September 18, which is an unusually short embargo for a game of this scale.

The setup

Control Resonant picks up seven years after the original. Dylan Faden — Jesse's brother, who spent that time in a coma inside the Oldest House — wakes up to find Manhattan transformed by a paranormal incursion. He's the sole playable character this time, and the city is barely recognizable. The launch trailer leans into that disorientation, pairing sweeping shots of a fractured Manhattan skyline with The Cardigans' "My Favourite Game" — an unexpected choice that lands well.

The biggest mechanical shift is the move away from the original's telekinetic shooter formula toward a melee-focused action RPG. Remedy is positioning this as a deliberate evolution rather than a spin-off, and hands-on previews have been positive about the faster, more aggressive combat.

What to buy and when

The standard edition at $59.99 covers all platforms. The Digital Deluxe edition runs $69.99 and includes a PS5-exclusive perk: 48-hour early access starting September 22. Xbox and PC buyers who pay the same $69.99 premium do not get that early access window — something worth knowing before you commit to an edition.

Physical copies are delayed. If you want a disc or cartridge, stock won't arrive until October 15. Digital is the only route to playing at launch.
