Motorola Signature 27 debuts with a 200MP Sony sensor and Bang & Olufsen audio

Motorola officially unveiled the Signature 27 today at the Snapdragon Summit, and it's the most serious premium play the brand has made in years. The phone leads with a 200MP Sony LYTIA sensor and a Bang & Olufsen audio partnership — two specs designed to put it in the same conversation as the Galaxy S26 Ultra and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Sales begin today in the US and Europe, though pricing has not been announced.

The camera

The headline spec is a 200MP Sony LYTIA sensor, likely the LYT-901 at 1/1.12 inches. That's a larger capture area than the ISOCELL HP2 (1/1.3 inches) Samsung uses in the Galaxy S26 Ultra — bigger sensors generally mean better low-light performance and less digital noise. Motorola rounds out the package with 100x zoom and Dolby Vision video recording. The camera module itself is deliberately asymmetric, a deliberate break from the symmetric square blocks every other flagship uses right now. The Signature 27 was teased earlier this week alongside hints of GrapheneOS support.

The audio

The "Audio by Bang & Olufsen" badge is new territory for Motorola. This is the brand's first major audio partnership of this kind — and unlike a sticker deal, it involves B&O; engineers tuning the speaker profiles directly, per Gizbot. The precedent here is Harman on Samsung flagships, where the partnership genuinely shifted audio quality and gave Samsung a premium justification. Whether B&O; does the same for Motorola remains to be heard.

What else to expect

Full specs will be confirmed at today's event, but the predecessor Signature (launched January 2026 at €999 in Europe) gives a rough baseline: a 6.8-inch 165Hz LTPO AMOLED display, Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, up to 16GB RAM, 1TB storage, and a 5200mAh battery with 90W wired charging. The Signature 27 is expected to match or exceed all of those. A Swarovski edition is also anticipated, as with the first-generation model. Motorola is also expanding its ecosystem — the company recently launched a MagSafe rival called Moto Snap for £40.

The US angle

The original Motorola Signature never launched in the United States — 9to5Google noted active teasers on Motorola's US site ahead of today's event, suggesting a genuine American debut this time. If the Signature 27 arrives stateside, it will step into a market Motorola largely abandoned at the premium tier years ago. Pricing is unconfirmed, but a 20% increase over the €999 predecessor would put it around £1,100–1,300 — squarely up against the Galaxy S26 Ultra (£1,068) and iPhone 17 Pro Max (£1,094). India will receive the phone at a later, unspecified date.
