In February 2021, Xiaomi announced the first smartphones of the new generation Redmi K series. The manufacturer introduced Redmi K40, K40 Pro and K40 Pro+ models. Two months later they were joined by Redmi K40 Gaming Edition. Now Xiaomi is working on the next generation lineup.

What is known?

Expectedly, the next series will be called Redmi K50. At first, it will again include the regular edition along with Pro and Pro+ versions. And the main similarities with the current generation will be the use of different mobile processors.

The Redmi K40 features the Snapdragon 870 SoC. At $310, the model is one of the cheapest smartphones in the world with this chip on board. In the Redmi K50, we will see the yet to be announced Snapdragon 890 platform, which should be an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 888.

Redmi K40 Pro and Pro+ carry the Snapdragon 888 SoC on board. Their successors, the Redmi K50 Pro and K50 Pro+ respectively, will be equipped with the Snapdragon 895 mobile chip. By the way, there is a chance that Qualcomm's next top-of-the-line system-on-chip will be called Snapdragon 898.

Despite the fact that information about the Redmi K50 family has already started appearing on the web, there is still a long wait before the presentation. According to preliminary reports, the premiere will take place in the first quarter of this year.
