The company Pine64, which already has a cheap but functional Linux-based e-reader, has added a Pine64 PineNote to its range of e-readers.

What's interesting

The manufacturer assures that it will be the most powerful e-reader available on the market. All thanks to the use of Rockchip RK3566, a quad-core ARM processor Cortex-A55 with clock speed of 2 GHz. It is complemented by 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 128GB eMMC storage.

The book features a large 10.3-inch E Ink display with resolution 1404×1872 pixels and 3:4 aspect ratio. The screen itself is touch-sensitive and supports operation with a stylus, so the Pine64 PineNote can be used for both reading and drawing.

The device runs Linux. Initial batches will ship with Manjaro Linux and will use either the KDE version of the Plasma desktop or Plasma Mobile for the user interface. Pine64 plans to release the first PineNote models at later this year, but they still need a lot of work. " You should count on writing software for it, not  writing notes onit" , - 0 say company representatives. That is if you want a fully functional ebook "out of the box ", you will have to wait until next year. the

Pine64 PineNote is priced at $399, but  comes with a stylus and case.
