Finally a compact flagship to compete with the iPhone 12 mini: Key specifications of the Samsung Galaxy S22 range have been revealed
Last week Samsung unveiled its Galaxy Z foldable smartphones Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3, so now all eyes are on the upcoming 2022 Galaxy S22 flagships. Despite the fact that their announcement is still 4 -5 months away at best, renowned insider Ice Universe has already revealed the main features of all three models.
What to expect
It looks like Samsung has decided to reposition itself and make the base Galaxy S22 a compact flagship that will compete with the iPhone 12 mini and most likely the iPhone 13 mini. While Galaxy S21 has a 6,2-inch screen, Galaxy S22 it will be even smaller - 6.01 inches. If this information is confirmed, the smartphone will be the smallest Galaxy S device since the 2019 Galaxy S10e.
At the same time, the Galaxy S22+ should get a 6,55-inch display, and Galaxy S22 Ultra a 6,81-inch. By comparison, S21+ has 6.7 inches, S21 Ultra - 6.8 inches. That is the Galaxy S22+ will also become more compact compared to its predecessor.
Unfortunately not only the screens will become smaller but and the batteries. The battery capacity of S22 and S22+ will be 3800 mAh and 4000 mAh respectively, while S22 Ultra will retain a battery of 5000 mAh. No information on charging speed yet.
All three models should get a 120Hz screen sweep, but only the Galaxy S22 Ultra will boast of QHD+ resolution and LTPO panel, which allows for dynamically changing the refresh rate.
As for the cameras, the Galaxy S22 and S22+ are expected to use the all-new 50-megapixel 1/1,55-inch main sensors, and also a 12 MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and an ultra-wide camera at 12 MP. The S22 Ultra, on the other hand, will have a main camera of 108 MP and three additional sensors of 12 MP - telephoto with 3x optical zoom, periscope with 10x optical zoom and ultra-wide lens.
Recall, sources also say that most Samsung Galaxy S22 flagships will get Snapdragon 898 processors instead of Exynos 2200.
