Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 foldable smartphones are already more popular than the Galaxy S21 and Note 20 lines. Is there a shortage looming?
A couple of weeks ago, Samsung introduced new foldable smartphones Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3. But it is already clear from pre-orders that the novelties will be very successful.
What does this mean?
So, in the period from 17 to 23 August, Samsung received 920 thousand pre-orders for Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3, and this is only in South Korea. That is already in the first week this pair beat the Galaxy Note 20 lineup and even the Galaxy S21 (which, by the way, by pre-orders beat the S20).
More popular is the more affordable Galaxy Z Flip 3, which accounts for about 70% of pre-orders. The Z Fold 3, in turn, received only 30% of the total number of pre-orders. Nevertheless, according to some estimates, the Z Fold 3 has garnered more than 4 times as many pre-orders as its predecessor.
Demand in Europe seems to be high too. Yesterday, Samsung sent out emails to customers in Germany notifying that their order may be delayed due to high demand. Insider Max Jambor said he has heard similar stories from the UK and France, and delivery dates for some Galaxy Z Flip 3 have been pushed back to September 9 or later.
