Apple leaves no chance for competitors in the smartwatch market

Analyst agency Counterpoint Research has published a research report on the smart watch market for the second quarter of 2021.

Who is the leader?

Compared to the second quarter of 2020, 27% more smartwatch models appeared on the market in three months. Moreover, the segment of affordable wearable gadgets (under $100) showed a growth of almost six and a half times (547%) year-on-year.

According to the analytical company, Apple continues to dominate the market. Its share shrank by 3.1% to 28% over the year. Approximately the same part of the market is held by four manufacturers, which also were in the top 5.

2nd place is still held by Huawei, but the volume of deliveries compared with the basic period decreased, which led to the fall of its share from 13.1% to 9.3%. However, Samsung increased its shipments, which allowed it to increase its share from 6.8% to 7.6% and moved up to the third place.

The company Imoo dropped out of the top 3. According to the results of the accounting period it took 6% of the market. Its share has reduced by 1% for the year. Also note that Garming entered the top 5 with a share of 5.8%, displacing Amazfit.

What are they buying?

The top five most popular smartwatches in the second quarter of 2021 were three Apple models at once. The Apple Watch Series 6 and Series SE settled at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, with the Apple Watch Series 3 coming in at No. 4. The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 rounded out the top three, while the Imoo Z6-4G rounded out the top five.
