Qualcomm and Google will work together on Renault's new electric car

Although Google is abandoning its longtime partner Qualcomm as a supplier of chips for tablets and laptops, they continue to collaborate successfully in other areas.

Qualcomm and Google have joined forces to supply key computing chips for the Renault Megane E-TECH Electric digital dashboard, the French automaker's next-generation electric vehicle (EV).

The Renault Megane E-TECH Electric vehicle will use Qualcomm chips to control the vehicle's infotainment system using software from Google.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 3rd Generation Automotive Cockpit Platforms power the vehicle's high-tech infotainment system, which includes touchscreen displays for audio, visual and navigation functions.

Qualcomm and Google together will help create highly intuitive artificial intelligence for virtual in-car assistance, natural vehicle-driver interaction, and contextual safety.
