LG's Chem division has introduced a new material for gbc displays called Real Folding Window.

What is it?

It is a flexible panel designed for foldable devices that should solve the main problems of existing models - durability and creases at bending points. The technologies used in the development of the Real Folding Window improve both durability and strength of any folding panel.

Specially developed coating materials are applied to transparent PET (thermoplastic polymer resin) film. Using just a few micrometers of the new material on both sides of the sheet, display manufacturers will be able to create a thin heat-resistant panel similar to plastic that will provide better durability.

At LG assure that such a display is as hard as glass and as flexible as plastic. It withstands 200,000 bends and allows the gadget to be folded inwards or outwards. In this case there will be no creases in places of bending .

According to Chang Do Ki (Chang Do Ki), vice president and head of advanced materials, Real Folding Window - is a step towards solving the problems that customers face today in folding products (crease and durability). The new technology will first appear on mobile phones, and later   in laptops and tablets.
