Don't smear it on the floor, but bypass it: the iRobot Roomba j7+ robot vacuum cleaner learns to recognize pet feces

Undoubtedly, robot vacuum cleaner - one of most useful achievements of civilization, but there are situations when it brings more headaches than benefits. This is especially familiar to pet owners. Surely you know the story when a pet didn't run to the toilet and made a pile right in the middle of the room and the robot thoroughly smeared it all over floor, getting dirty in feces and itself, and all around. But there is a way out: the company iRobot says that its new  robot vacuum cleaner Roomba j7+ will solve this problem.

What came up with

This isn't a joke, but iRobot has been working on this for several years. Competitor models Roborock S6 MaxV and 360 Smart Life also support this option, but of course  iRobot is skeptical and says that no one see feces like the Roomba j7+. In this robot is helped by machine vision and artificial intelligence. And also long "training": the vacuum cleaner has reviewed a large number of realistic images and models of excrement.

This way, upon discovering a nasty surprise from the pet, the robot will go around it and report the find to the user. By the way, this also applies to other objects lying on the floor like cables, socks or headphones. Upon seeing such an object, iRobot Roomba j7+ will ask through the app what it is and what to do with it. For example, if it is a cable that will lie there and further, the system will put it on map, and vacuum cleaner in further will bypass it.

New features are added in free iRobot Genius 3.0 software update, distribution of which started from today. As for the iRobot Roomba j7+ itself, its base version costs $649, and set with base station will cost $849.
