Rumor: Samsung will use proprietary Exynos chip with AMD graphics not only in flagship smartphones
Samsung has been working with AMD on the next top-of-the-line Exynos chip for some time now. As it turns out, it won't just be used in flagship devices.
What is known
According to the insider under the nickname @FrontTron, Samsung and AMD are preparing three versions of the chip. The SoCs will differ in frequency and number of GPU cores. For instance, Galaxy S smartphones will get six-core graphics, while mid-range and budget Galaxy A models will be equipped with chips with four- and two-core graphics, respectively.
According to leak, such processors are currently testing at 1GHz. They will use Cortex-A78 cores instead of X-series. Presumably, the performance of these processors will be 10% less than the top version. What exactly are the smartphones to install such SoC insider does not say, but we can assume that it will be Galaxy A54 or Galaxy A74.
