Caution Apple warns that motorcycles and mopeds can harm your iPhone

Apple has updated the user support section of the official website with a new warning.

How better not to

The manufacturer warns that vibration from motorcycle engines can damage the smartphone camera. After all, the optical image stabilization (OIS) and autofocus with feedback (AF) systems used in cameras have gyroscopes and magnetic sensors, and they are not designed for exposure to high amplitude vibration.

Therefore, Apple does not advise attaching the smartphone to the handlebars or chassis of a motorcycle, and also recommends using a shock mount to mount the iPhone on mopeds and electric scooters.

"The optical image stabilization and autofocus systems used in iPhone with feedback are designed for long-term use. However, as is the case with many consumer electronic devices that include systems such as OIS, prolonged direct exposure to high amplitude vibration in certain frequency ranges can degrade the performance of these systems and result in degraded image quality in photos and in video. It is not recommended to expose the iPhone to high amplitude vibration for prolonged periods of time", - says report.

Why exactly Apple published this warning is unclear - possibly due to reports of similar cases appearing on forums.

Recall, optical image stabilization and/or autofocus with feedback is used in iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 6s Plus, and also in all Apple smartphones starting from iPhone 7.
