Google One storage is shared across various Google user account products, including Gmail, Drive, and Photos. So now that storage requirements for the latter have tightened, more people are being forced to purchase paid plans. To bridge the $40 gap between the two closest price tags, Google has introduced a 5TB plan.

When Google Photos gave up unlimited storage earlier this year, users were left with only a few reasonable plans. The first was a 100GB offer for $1.99 per month, followed by a 200GB plan for $2.99 per month. In a survey conducted in June, most of our readers reported using these two plans. However, the 2TB plan for $9.99 per month offers significantly more volume and other benefits, but for those with even higher storage requirements, the next step up - $49.99 per month for 10TB - may seem excessive.

Now Google One offers a middle ground in the form of a 5TB plan. The new plan costs $24.99 per month, which is the same price as the 2TB and 10TB offerings. The new plan is also available for $249.99 per year, a savings of 17% over monthly payments. The plan has all the same benefits as the 2TB plan: 10% back on Google Store purchases, faster access to Google Support, family sharing, and VPN for Android phones.
