The dragon that couldn't: Snapdragon 898 lost to Exynos 2200 and Apple A15 Bionic in GFXBench
Qualcomm this year will show the flagship mobile processor of the new generation. It will be called Snapdragon 898. The chip was tested in GFXBench a few months before the announcement.
In the Manhattan 3.1 test, the next-generation Adreno graphics accelerator was able to deliver 158.4 FPS. Aztec Ruins dropped to 112.7 FPS and Aztec Ruins (High) dropped to 43.1 FPS.
Snapdragon 898 failed to outperform the Exynos 2200 and A15 Bionic single-core systems. The latter, by the way, will be unveiled in a few hours. For example, in Manhattan 3.1, the results of Samsung and Apple chips were respectively 181.8 FPS and 198 FPS.
The Snapdragon 898, on the other hand, boasts better thermal management of the graphics controller. During the second run, the GPU performance drops by 20%. The Exynos 2200 has a 25 percent drop, while the A15 Bionic has a 35 percent drop.
