Bankrupt ghost company Jawbone sued and accuses Apple and Google of patent infringement
The ghost company Jawbone has decided to remind itself and filed lawsuits against tech giants Apple and Google.
Who is it?
Jawbone is a startup with a rather long and diverse history that is considered one of its most high-profile failures. It has had both ups and downs, but after almost 20 years of existence, the company declared bankruptcy in 2017 and began the liquidation process.
Jawbone is known for making bluetooth headsets, speakers and fitness bracelets, with once its wearable devices being heavily marketed in the Apple Store. Of course, before the advent of the Apple Watch. After that, the company caught Google's eye, but the giant eventually chose Fitbit.
Not desperate, the startup decided to enter the medical field, but all these attempts were not successful. Now the same name is back on the radar.
What happened?
Jawbone sued and assures that Apple and Google infringed 8 of its patents related to noise cancellation. The developments are now used in wireless headphones, smartphones and other devices "smart" home.
But the interesting thing is that there is no communication with the lawyers handling the lawsuit, who exactly filed the lawsuit - is unclear. The office is registered in a small building in the Texas town of Waco, but the phone number is nowhere listed, so it is impossible to contact the staff.
Apple has not yet commented on the situation, but but Google said they are going to dispute the complaints and fight back vigorously.
