Samsung Galaxy F42 5G: 90Hz FHD+ screen, MediaTek Dimensity 700 chip, up to 8GB RAM and 5000mAh battery for $285

Samsung, as promised, has unveiled its new F-series smartphone in India.

What kind of device

The model was named Galaxy F42 5G. The device gets a plastic body with two colors, and a 6.6-inch IPS FHD+ display with a V-cut. The panel supports a picture refresh rate of 90Hz. 

The MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset is responsible for the performance of the smartphone. It is built on 7-nanometer process technology and has two powerful ARM Cortex-A76 cores with a maximum clock speed of 2.2 GHz, six energy-efficient ARM Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0 GHz and built-in 5G modem. The SoC is paired with 6/8GB of RAM. The novelty also features 128GB of storage, separate dual-SIM and microSD card slot, USB-C port, headphone jack, side scanner and Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers.

As for the cameras, there are four in the Galaxy F42 5G: triple main 64 MP + 5 MP (wide) + 2 MP (depth sensor) and a single frontal 8 MP. The device is powered by a 5000mAh battery. It supports 15W charging. 

Out of the box, the smartphone has Android 11 OS and the proprietary One UI 3.1 shell

Price and when to expect

Sales of the Galaxy F42 5G are scheduled in India for October 2. Whether the device will be released in other regions is unknown.
