Apple has made it possible to rate and review iOS system apps through the App Store

For a long time, the App Store did not allow users to rate or review Apple's built-in iPhone and iPad apps such as Mail, Music, News, Stocks and Calculator. However, it seems that after the release of iOS 15 earlier this month, Apple has lifted this restriction. The system apps are now in users' crosshairs.

As you'd expect, customer feedback is already coming in on Apple's apps, with the Podcasts app currently in the worst position statistically with a 2.0 rating.

While Apple had no reason to officially announce this policy change, the company may have opened it up because of impending competitive pressure. Third-party apps are not known to be allowed to hide their ratings on the App Store.

You can rate and review any Apple app that you can uninstall and reinstall through the App Store, so major system apps like Phone or Messages are excluded - they are simply not represented in the App Store.

No stock Apple app comes close to a perfect 5-star rating. "Recorder" appears to be Apple's highest-rated built-in app so far - 4 stars. The Weather app also has a relatively good rating of 3.7. The same rating goes to the most mainstream service, Apple Music, which has already garnered around 300 votes.
