SK Broadband has sued Netflix. The South Korean internet service provider is demanding compensation from the US company for the associated costs incurred due to the spike in traffic.

"What does this have to do with Netflix?" you might rightly ask. It all comes down to the fact that that particular traffic spike was due to the enormous popularity of Netflix's new series called Squid Gamer ("Squid Game").

Representatives of the U.S. company said they are doing everything possible to ensure uninterrupted streaming for users from South Korea. In parallel, Netflix has agreed to compensate the costs of SK Broadband, but the amount is not specified yet.

Recall that the Squid Game series had its world premiere on Netflix on September 17. The film tells the story of 456 people who decide to take part in a mysterious game of survival with a prize of $38.5 million. Ted Sarandom, one of the directors of Netflix, said that Squid Game has every chance in the near future to become the most successful series in the history of the streaming service.
