New Samsung Galaxy A22 5G with IP68 protection unveiled
In early June 2021, Samsung announced the Galaxy A22 5G smartphone. Now it's time to premiere a new version. It debuted in Japan, has the same name, but is significantly different from the summer novelty.
What's the difference
The Japanese variant of the Samsung Galaxy A22 5G also features a TFT matrix, but the diagonal is reduced from 6.6" to 5.8", the resolution is reduced from FHD+ to HD+, and 90Hz refresh rate is not supported. The teardrop-shaped notch has a 5MP front-facing instead of 8MP. The primary camera has completely changed. Instead of 48 MP, 5 MP and 2 MP modules, there is a single 13 MP sensor.
The charging power has been reduced from 15W to 10W, and the company has abandoned the fingerprint scanner altogether. But not all innovations have gone to the downside. The new version of Samsung Galaxy A22 5G boasts of IP68 water protection.
The smartphone has retained the headphone jack, NFC, USB-C, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 7nm mobile processor. The capacity of the built-in battery has not changed and amounted to 4000 mAh. It runs on Android 11 OS. The One UI firmware version is not specified.
Price and availability
Sales launch of the Samsung Galaxy A22 5G is scheduled for mid-December. In the market, the novelty will appear in red, black and white colors of the body with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory. The price has not been specified. The price of the European version starts at € 230.
