Samsung's old flagship will no longer receive updates

Samsung will no longer be releasing One UI and Android software updates for one of its 2017 flagship smartphones.

What's known

Unlucky owners of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 model. At one time, it played an important role for the company. The smartphone was the successor to the explosive Galaxy Note 7, whose sales ceased before it could begin.

The Hero of the Note was introduced on August 23, 2017 and went on sale in early fall. It hit the market with a branded UI and Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system. As time went on, the model managed to update to Android 9.0 Pie and One UI.

For three years, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 received monthly operating system security patches. Since October last year, the company started releasing OS patches once a quarter, with the latest one released in August. The flagship will no longer be updated to Android 10 with One UI 2.0.
