Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 is one of two bendable smartphones of the company from South Korea, which were introduced in August this year. It has been reported that the manufacturer may forfeit the warranty to users if the device breaks due to a fall.

How is this possible?

One of the enthusiasts dug into the smartphone software and found a previously unknown algorithm, which is responsible for registering falls. An accelerometer helps with this. The algorithm is able to accurately determine the date and time of the fall. In this case, it does not matter what surface the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 landed on. Drops from heights up to 1 meter are ignored.

The first precedent of denial of warranty service already exists. The South Korean user could not replace the display, which was cracked in the bend, under warranty because the logs recorded three falls. The owner of the device claims that the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 fell on a seat and a sofa.

Recall that the company also unveiled the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 over the summer. Whether it has a fall detection algorithm is not yet known.
