NETGEAR unveils world's first $1,500 Quad-band WiFi 6E MESH system
How much would you pay for one of the fastest home wireless networks? More than you'd pay for your computer or phone? If so, Netgear has a solution.
The company has introduced what it claims is the first quad-band WiFi 6E networking system, the Orbi Quad-band Mesh WiFi 6E. By paying an impressive $1,500 for the three-device kit, you get 10.8 Gbps of total bandwidth in the 2.4GHz, 5GHz and 6GHz bands, plus a backhaul band to keep the core frequencies clear.
The three-device set provides a maximum coverage area of approximately 800 square meters, and the WAN Ethernet port now supports speeds of up to 10 Gbps. Accordingly, there are more 2.5 Gbps Ethernet ports on the router and satellites to improve bandwidth for wired devices. Up to four separate WiFi networks can be created, including a "6E only" network, to enable new devices to operate at full speed.
The kit is available for pre-order now, with a delivery date of Oct. 29. Additional satellites are on sale for $599. The amount is gigantic by any standards when it comes to WiFi equipment for the home or office. All that's left to do is find a use for these features.
