Apple forced to cut production of iPhone 13 by 10 million smartphones

Apple, too, has suffered from component shortages. For this reason, it will have to cut production of iPhone 13 smartphones by more than 10%.

What is known

The new generation flagships have been on sale for about three weeks. The Cupertino-based company planned to deliver 90 million smartphones to the market by the end of the year. However, Broadcom can't produce enough wireless modules, while Texas Instrument is unable to provide the requested volumes of screen chips.

Due to this Apple will have to cut back on iPhone 13 production. According to Bloomberg's sources, by the end of the year the California-based company will produce 80 million smartphones instead of the planned 90 million, and while it is impossible to guarantee with 100% certainty that the figure will not decrease.

Note that the shortage of chip hit other companies as well. For example, Samsung has been forced to postpone the Galaxy S21 FE premiere due to a silicon shortage. Perhaps the affordable flagship will be unveiled next week. The manufacturer has scheduled an event Galaxy Unpacked Part 2 for October 20.

Sony is tackling the problem radically. The Tokyo-based company plans to work with TSMC to build a new factory in Japan. The investment is estimated at $7 billion, but 50% of the amount will be provided by the authorities.
