Rumor: New 27-inch iMac with mini-LED display early next year
A new report from display insider Ross Young claims that Apple will release a new 27-inch iMac early next year:
Okay, I was hasty. The 27" mini-LED screen will be installed in the iMac in 1Q22, not an external monitor. Perhaps the monitor will come later. Same 24Hz to 120Hz with variable frequency... Sorry for the confusion!
Correction refers to Young's previous suggestion that Apple is preparing a new external display, but he quickly updated his prediction to reflect the possible launch of the new iMac.
The news is certainly interesting considering Apple's upgrade of the iMac line earlier this year with the addition of the M1 chip and a colorful new design. Apple has increased the display size from 21 inches to 24 inches, and it has been suggested that Apple may make a similar leap with a larger model.
In his tweet, Young further notes that the iMac should have a variable refresh rate from 24Hz to 120Hz, suggesting that it will feature an OLED LTPO panel.
Young claims that the new iMac will be introduced between January and March next year. Working for Display Supply Chain Consultants, Yang previously accurately predicted that the iPhone 12 will not feature ProMotion technology or a 120Hz display, and correctly noted new details about the iPad mini 6. All of his previous predictions about future Apple products have turned out to be accurate.
